Wild Ohio Whitetail Outfitters
Hello, and welcome to Wild Ohio Whitetail Outfitters. My name is Dave Flora and I am the owner and operator of Wild Ohio Whitetail Outfitters. We are a newer outfitter and we are located in Hocking County about one hour southeast of Columbus in Southeastern Ohio. After a couple years of discussion, we finally made the tough decision to open our area to the public. We have approximately 1,000 acres of private property which we have managed and hunted for 20 years.
I am a strong believer in deer management and have been a member of Quality Deer Management Association for more than 15 years. I am also a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and I have worked extensively with both the State of Ohio and the Hocking County extension office to improve both the wildlife habitat and the timber stand on our properties. My philosophy is to give back more than I take.
Our hunting area is primarily hardwoods consisting of White Oak, Red Oak, Beech, Hickory, Cherry and Poplar. We have approximately 65 acres of clear cut. 35 acres was clear cut in 2005 (A Real Deer Magnet) and an additional 30 acres was cut in 2010. For those of you that don’t know, these clear cut areas produce a massive amount of food per acre in addition to providing excellent bedding cover and thermal cover to help sustain the deer through hard winters like we had in 2009/2010. The timber harvest took place on 3 different leases. There is also an additional 15 acres in food plots consisting of Clover, Turnips, Sorghum, Chicory, along with other Legumes and Brassicaceous. We also have several feeders and mineral licks through out our area.
